Hanover, Penn., June 20, 2008 – America Needs Fatima is organizing 3,000 rosary rallies across America. The event is set for 12 noon on October 11, the Saturday closest to October 13, when the Miracle of the Sun occurred at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917.
“As homosexual ‘marriage,’ abortion and other moral evils spread, Catholics are planning this spiritual counter-attack: 3,000 rosary rallies for America,” said Robert Ritchie, executive director of America Needs Fatima. “To prepare for these peaceful prayer rallies, we are looking for volunteer rally captains to organize friends and other members of their communities.”
America Needs Fatima will provide support materials and special prayer banners for at least 3,000 different rallies.
“We could never plan 3,000 rallies without the help of 120 dedicated volunteers who have pledged time to work the phones at our national coordination office in Kansas. Last year we made and took about 35,000 calls,” said Robert Ritchie.
To volunteer, go to the Catholic group’s web site www.americaneedsfatima.org to sign up or view a selection of online material to start a rally, such as posters, banners, rosaries, and a detailed map of the nation announcing rally locations by state and city. Volunteers can also call 866-584-6012 to join the campaign.
“An amazing network is forming to honor the Mother of God and pray for the conversion of America,” said Mr. Ritchie. “Only God can help us stop abortion, pornography, blasphemy and sins against nature that are so widespread,” he said. “If anything can stop the moral crisis in society, it’s the power of the Rosary. There’s nothing more powerful spiritually.”
Last year, America Needs Fatima, with 140,000 members nationwide, organized 2,173 rosary rallies to honor the 90th anniversary of the apparitions apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima.
